NEXUS 2010: Leadership Conference

Tuesday, June 8

FCCLA Adviser Retreat

Presenters: Nicole Ruge; TBA - from the National Association possibly Marilyn Schoolmeester

This will be a day for FCCLA Advisers to share and profit from each other’s ideas. Nicole Ruge, a member of the National Consultant Team will bring new innovative ideas as to how to incorporate FCCLA programs into the classroom. Some of the programs will include STAR events, Power of One, and National Programs. A panel of experienced advisers will share their methods of organizing their chapters. Finally, we will look at both the state and national websites to help you locate those lost forms and bits of information.

NE/ASCA School Counseling Model Training

Presenter: Dr. Paul Barnes, University of Nebraska-Omaha

This session is intended to enhance the effectiveness of school counseling programs through the introduction and implementation of the American School Counselor Association’s (ASCA) National Model/Nebraska Model. This training will be an excellent introduction to the model as well as a refresher training for counselors who haev already attended a Counselor Academy on the model.

Session is designed for FCS teachers who have completed their first year of teaching.  Teachers who will be teaching FCS for the first time or are returning to teaching after an extended period may also attend.
